We understand that many delegates face significant financial and personal hurdles to participation, so we have taken steps within our control to improve DRS2026 accessibility where possible.
Financial accessibility:
We reduced the conference duration to four days (previously 6-7 days).
We continue to offer online participation, so no one faces a barrier to presenting and publishing their paper.
We secured affordable housing for the entire conference, averaging just £65/night.
We aim to offer bursaries to delegates from lower-income nations (pending review of registration income)
Personal accessibility:
We are using three buildings within a 5-minute walk of each other, with step-free access.
We published registration fees and opened registration on February 20, two months earlier than 2024.
We secured affordable housing that can accommodate presenters traveling with children.
Note on volunteering:
Due to UK legal requirements, we are only able to engage volunteers based in Scotland. We are sorry that we cannot offer more volunteering roles. Instead, we plan to offer a bursary scheme for lower-income delegates, particularly from under-represented nations, to attend the conference free of volunteer obligations.
